It’s a trend which has seen an estimated 30% increase in the past decade and continues to rise. According to the Office for National Statistics, 3.3m or 25% of 20-34 year olds lived in their parental home in 2016. At the other end of the scale, grandparents often want to downsize at a time when their children need more space but can’t afford it, so multi-generational living makes a great deal of sense.
