Spotlight on Ashford – our estate agent’s view. Ashford, Surrey (not to be confused with Ashford, Kent) lies 15 miles SW of London. The village is listed in the Domesday Book as 'Exeford' and the historic St Matthew's Church dates back to 1293. Ashford derives its name from the River Ash, and from a ford over the river. A stone bridge built over the ford in 1789, forms part of the Fordbridge roundabout with weeping willow trees at its centre. Despite some ancient history, Ashford’s buildings mostly date from 1930 - 1960 as the village became the commuter town it is today, close to the M25 and with easy access to the M3, M4, M40 and Heathrow Airport. Ashford’s mainline station offers trains to London Waterloo running every 20 minutes with a 35 minute journey time.
Spring into action and add value

As the clocks go forward, and with the “bank holiday season” upon us, almost 75% of UK homeowners plan to make home improvements. Whether preparing to move or improving your property, it’s important to weigh up the cost and the value it is likely to add. A good estate agent can advise you on this and what will sell your home quickly or at a higher price in your neighbourhood. If you’re selling, it makes sense to present your property well to avoid any negotiation on price. Often buyers overestimate the time and cost to refurbish a house and reduce their offer accordingly.
Keeping your options open.

For most people, buying a property is the single biggest financial investment that they will ever make and not a decision that can be reversed overnight if you get it wrong. With the average cost of moving reaching £31,000 in some parts of Britain and almost £11,000 across the UK as a whole, it’s worth looking for a “forever home” or at least one that will see you through the next few years even if your circumstances change. So how can you keep your options open, and stress levels down when weighing up your property options?

Each member organisation will be regulated by Propertymark, promoting the highest standards across residential sales and lettings.

Spotlight on Chalfont St Giles - our estate agents view. Chalfont St Giles, in South Bucks, is an idyllic village full of historic character within prime commuter territory 25 miles from London. Superb transport links include mainline trains from Gerrards Cross to Marylebone in 18 minutes and the Metropolitan Line, with Chalfont & Latimer, Chorleywood, Amersham and Rickmansworth stations all nearby. The M25 and M40 are easily reached making Heathrow, Luton and Gatwick airports readily accessible yet the village retains its quaint, quintessentially English charm within spectacular open countryside; the best of both worlds.
