Spotlight on Chesham – our estate agent’s view. Chesham is a popular market town on the edge of the Chilterns, surrounded by picturesque open countryside. Earliest records date back to the 10th century although archaeological evidence goes back to 8000 BC. Historically Chesham is known for its four Bs – Baptists, bootmaking, beer and brushmaking - but today the town’s employment lies in small businesses, technology and professional services. Proximity to the M25 and M1 and an easy commute to London via Amersham’s mainline train service into Marylebone or Chesham’s own Metropolitan Line station into Baker Street, make Chesham a prime commuter town.

According to the Office for National Statistics, 3.3m or 25% of 20-34 year olds lived in their parental home in 2016. At the other end of the scale, grandparents often want to downsize at a time when their children need more space but can’t afford it, so multi-generational living makes a great deal of sense.
