Merry and bright!

With a little creative inspiration, it’s easy to decorate with Christmas lights both indoors and out. Wrap white fairy lights around branches decorated with silver, beaded garlands or use decorated letters to spell out festive words draped with fairy lights.
Add an extra dimension to a wreath with some warm white fairy lights to create instant impact and a welcome for guests or fill a large glass vase with scented pine cones, baubles and lights for an aromatic display.
Candles add a soft flickering glow and feeling of warmth especially if they are scented with evocative Christmas aromas like gingergread, berries, cinnamon and orange. They create a perfect calming ambience for last minute present wrapping or just a few quiet moments of “me” time!
Give your garden a magical festive glow with festoons of twinkling fairy lights. Christmas is the party season, so what better way to decorate your garden, patio or courtyard than with lanterns and glittery lights to light the way for guests
It’s also worth thinking about some practical lighting outside your home, too. Good lighting at the front of your house will make visitors feel welcome as well as helping you to identify night-time callers. If you are planning to be away over the holidays, motion-sensitive lights or timed lighting add an element of security. There’s a wide variety (solar, battery or mains powered) available at DIY stores or consult a specialist supplier for advice on installation.
If your own garden isn’t up to a wonderland transformation it may be worth a visit to Christmas at Kew which promises “brightly coloured laser beams dancing over water, a Tunnel of Lights, scented Fire Garden and fairy-tale avenues of flora. Santa and his elves will be in the North Pole village, and a one mile sparkling path winds its way through the Gardens in a magical after dark experience.”
Whatever your plans this Christmas and New Year, may your days be merry and bright!
