There were awards in each age group for the most improved player and coach’s player as well as a player of the season award. There was also an overall player of the season award for both the Minis section and Juniors section. U9s player Jamail Alikhan won the Minis award while Billy Young from the U17s picked up the Juniors award.
Volunteers’ efforts also received recognition at the ceremony with Martin Tilby collecting an award for coaching and Colin White (pictured), Richard Vanstone, Barry Dillon and Tom Lanigan lifting a joint award for their contribution at club events. Colin, who is Lettings Manager at The Frost Partnership, Langley said “It’s great to be able to give something back to the community by volunteering and the best reward is in seeing the development over the season of the Minis as individuals and as team players”.
Youth Chairman Andrew Leighton-Pope commented that it had been a 'wonderful morning at Slough RFC on Sunday with the Annual Mini and Junior Awards Ceremony. The club was packed to the rafters with players and their families. While it is always enjoyable to see the young players reactions to winning their awards it is equally lovely to see the hard working volunteers being appreciated with a few of the major awards.'
The Frost Partnership is proud to have sponsored another successful season for the Slough RFC Minis. The season is now over for the youth section but there will be a number of events over the summer. Visit www.sloughrfc.com for details.
