Staines is located close to Junction 13 of the M25, giving the town excellent access to the M4, M40, M3 and Heathrow Airport. Its mainline railway station connects to London Waterloo in just 34 minutes.
The town has a variety of schools for children of primary age, including Staines Preparatory School and Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Primary School, while secondary schools include the Magna Carta and the Matthew Arnold School. Strodes College provides further education, and London University’s Royal Holloway College is also close by.
Sports and leisure facilities include Spelthorne Leisure Centre, Pure Gym and spa and the private Thames Club, while sailing and windsurfing are available at the Queen Mary Reservoir. Lammas Park in Staines offers tennis courts and a play area by the river. The town has a Vue cinema and excellent retail options are provided by the Two Rivers Shopping Centre. Staines town centre has seen some regeneration and offers one of the main three shopping centres within Surrey. Elmsleigh shopping centre and the high street offer an array of national retail stores in addition to more traditional independent shops.
There are many popular places to eat out, such as The Angler’s Retreat, The Three Horseshoes, The Wheatsheaf and Pigeon (Winner of Best Thames Local 2012) and the riverside Swan Hotel as well as Turtle Bay Restaurant, Zizzi, Wagamama, TGI Friday, Nostranos Lounge, Ask and several Indian restaurants.
Local attractions include Thorpe Park, Windsor Great Park, Virginia Water, Savill Gardens, Runnymede and the River Thames where boats are available for hire.
